Ari Lennox
Courtney Shanade Salter (born March 26th, 1991) is better known under her professional moniker Ari Lennox is an American singer and songwriter who hails from Washington, D.C. She is the first female artist associated with J. Cole's record label Dreamville Records. The label debuted her first EP, Pho, in October 2016, and she was able to get recognition. Shea Butter Baby released her first studio album on May 7, 2019. Ari Lennox has been uploading her music since 2012 with her release of her first mixtape "Five Finger Discount" and her EP Ariography. She continued to upload her music online in 2014, including the independently-released single Bound. In July of 2015, she appeared on Omen's album Elephant Eyes with the track Sweat it Out. J. Cole asked her to collaborate with him for Rihanna's remark. Later in the season, the music circulated throughout Dreamville. On December 28, 2008 it was announced that Rihanna had been signed with Dreamville Records. Backseat was the result of her participation to The Revenge of the Dreamers II album. In October of 2016 the singer-songwriter released her debut EP, Pho. Ari Lennox was a guest on J. Cole's Change as well as performing as part of her own 4 Your Eyez Only Tour as opening act. In 2018, she appeared in two of her songs with labelmates EarthGang in the video for Nothing but the Best. Also, she appeared on Bas in Icarus. Ari Lennox dropped her first single Whipped Cream from Shea Butter Baby on July 16th. A music clip was then followed by a short video in September. Then, in November, she released two singles, 40 Shades of Choke & Grampa. In November 2013, she released her debut album No One as well as Pedigree. Shea Butter Baby. Shea Butter Baby later made an appearance on the Creed II album soundtrack alongside Cole. The singer released the single as a way in order to announce her debut album Creed II on 26 February 2019. In February of 2019 a music video was made available for the track. It has already received over three millions views on YouTube within its initial week. In December of 2018, she was performing as a support act on From East Atlanta With Love Tour. From East Atlanta With Love Tour in conjunction with 6LACK.
