Ari Lennox

Courtney Shanade Salter, born March 26, 1991, also known professionally as Ari Lennox, hails from Washington, D.C. and was the first female signing to J. Cole's Dreamville Records label. In October of 2016 Ari Lennox debuted her EP Pho. This was the moment that she received recognition. Shea Butter Baby is her debut album. It came out in May 2019. Ari Lennox began uploading her music to the Internet in 2012 after she dropped her debut mixtape Five Finger Discount, and her debut EP Ariography in 2013. In 2014, she continued to release her music on the internet, including her self launched single Bound. The 21st of July, 2015 was the day she appeared on Omen's album Elephant Eyes in the song Sweat It Out. J. Cole had her sing her songs for the Dreamville Team later that year, as he wanted Rihanna to work with her on some references. On the 8th of December, it was confirmed that she had been signed to Dreamville Records. Backseat was her contribution for The Revenge of the Dreamers II album. In the month of October, she released her first EP Pho. Ari Lennox later appeared on J. Cole's track Change and performed as an opening act for the 4 Your Eyez Only Tour in 2017. In 2018, she performed as a guest performer on two songs with the EarthGang's Nothing but the Best song as well as Bas's Icarus. Ari Lennox dropped her first track Whipped Cream on Shea Butter Baby on July 16th. A music video followed released, followed by a music video September. Her second single Grampa on November 9. Two singles more were released by her on November 13 Pedigree and No One. Shea Butter Baby was released on her debut single, the 26th of February, 2019, for her album Creed II. Shea Butter Baby performed along with Cole on the Creed II sound track on November 16. The track was launched with a music video uploaded to YouTube 20 February 2019 has been watched over 3 million times within the first 7 days. In December 2018 she performed on her From East Atlanta With Love Tour featuring 6LACK.
